Today is my last day interning at Thinkhouse Design and I am so sad that my time here has come to an end! I have had a wonderful time assisting the amazing Thinkhouse team. I had the opportunity to do so many different things and to learn so much about what working at a design firm is all about. Studying graphic design at York University has been awesome so far, but I had no idea what being a designer is all about. I could only hope that countless sleepless nights were not included!
Interviewing at Thinkhouse was by no means as intimidating as I had imagined it would be, everyone here is ridiculously nice! Unlike many students I have heard of my internship was far from coffee runs and photocopying. I got to work on alot of different projects, a from trade show booth, flyers, newspaper ads, and concept development, three weeks has flown by!
Having spent some time at Thinkhouse I definitely have a better feeling for what working at a design firm is all about. Working with the staff at Thinkhouse has been really beneficial because I have seen so many different aspects of the design process. From concept development and brainstorming to client feedback, development and getting files ready for work, seeing all of the steps in the design process allows the designers to see a design from beginning to end.
I couldn’t have asked to do an internship at a better place than Thinkhouse! Great people (that never make you feel stupid for asking questions), interesting projects, and a fun environment have made my internship a highlight this year!
